CCC will be headed to the Pacific Northwest for the 45th Annual Meeting of the Society for Scholarly Publishing as a Fellowship Sponsor, giving our team a chance to support and connect with the scholarly publishing community while participating in multiple sessions across the conference’s three days. Through our Fellowship Sponsorship, we are supporting the SSP Generations Fund, which provides annual membership, educational seminars, mentoring, and travel to early career professionals, those from under-served communities, and students of publishing, librarianship, and information science.

This year’s meeting, which will take place from 31 May to June 2 in Portland, OR, has the theme of Transformation, Trust, and Transparency. CCC will join the greater SSP community of academics, funders, librarians, publishers, service providers, technologists, and others with a communal interest and stake in disseminating scholarly information. True to this year’s theme, be sure to visit us at Booth 117 to interact with the new The State of Scholarly Metadata: 2023 , an interactive report that demonstrates the various metadata challenges facing the scholarly publishing community and discuss with our publishing industry experts how we can work together to develop solutions to meet those challenges. We are also ready to discuss how CCC’s solutions like RightsLink for Scientific Communications, OA Agreement Intelligence, and Ringgold Solutions seamlessly work together to help simplify open scholarly publishing.

We are looking forward to participating in three different sessions:

  • On May 31st at 3 PM PDT, CCC will present during the Industry Breakout sessions Collaboration Through Integration: Why Quality Metadata is the Key to OA Funding Eligibility. Shannon Reville, Product Manager, CCC; Josh Dahl, Senior Director, Product Management, Clarivate; and Pierre Montagano, Director of Business Development, Aries Systems will explore the importance and challenges of metadata capture and how these challenges are affecting the move to OA business models.
  • On Day 2 (June 1st) at 4:45 PM PDT; Jamie Carmichael, Senior Director, Information and Content Solutions, CCC, will join Jason Price, Research & Scholarly Communication Director, SCELC Library Consortium, and David Haber, Director of Publishing Operations, American Society for Microbiology for Solving for OA/UX: The Powerful Potential in Improving User Experience (UX). In this session, moderated by Willa Tavernier, Research Impact and Open Scholarship Librarian, Indiana University – Bloomington, panelists will reflect on successful collaborations that streamline OA processes, remove unnecessary work for the researchers, and enable cross-stakeholder transparency.
  • Finally, on the last day of the meeting, June 2nd, at 9 AM PDT, I will be participating in the popular Preview Sessions and discuss CCC’s API-based solutions for increased funding awareness & adoption of OA.
