President and Chief Executive Officer
Tracey Armstrong is the President and Chief Executive Officer of CCC. Since becoming CEO in 2007, she has led CCC through a period of tremendous growth and innovation. Armstrong works with publishers, authors, universities, businesses, and industry associations around the world to address copyright issues and establish alliances. A leading voice on global copyright, she has served on the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO) Board since 2012 and is currently President. She is also on the Board of Harborlight Homes, a Massachusetts-based non-profit Community Development Corporation that cultivates just, equitable, and sustainable housing opportunities. Armstrong champions CCC’s global “We Not Me” program promoting corporate and individual social responsibility. She was recently named to the 2023 Forbes 50 Over 50 list, highlighting dynamic female leaders and entrepreneurs who have achieved significant success. Armstrong holds an MBA from Northeastern University.
Richard A. Ruf
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
As Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer, Richard Ruf is responsible for all of CCC’s financial affairs, as well as rightsholder payments, enterprise risk and compliance, sales operations, contract administration, and facilities. Before joining CCC in 2000, he served as Controller of REP Environmental Processes, a subsidiary of RWE AG. Prior, Ruf was with Laventhol & Horwath. He earned his MBA from Suffolk University and holds his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech. Ruf is a Certified Public Accountant.
Catherine Zaller Rowland
Vice President, General Counsel
Catherine Zaller Rowland is Vice President, General Counsel, at CCC where she oversees the Legal Department and advises on complex issues including copyright licensing, software, professional services, and the intersection of copyright and emerging technologies. Previously, Rowland held a range of positions in the private sector and federal government, focusing on intellectual property matters. Most recently, she served as Associate Register of Copyrights and Director of the Office of Public Information and Education at the U.S. Copyright Office, where she was one of four principal legal advisors to the head of the Copyright Office. She began her legal career in private practice focusing on intellectual property litigation, transactions, and counseling.
Vice President, Human Resources
Michele Nivens is CCC’s Vice President, Human Resources, responsible for talent acquisition and development as well as compensation and benefits. Before joining CCC in 2006, she served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Software.com from start-up to profitable post-IPO venture and merger to create Openwave. She also served as Vice President of Human Resources for BBN Systems and Technologies during the years of its Internet backbone build-out and ultimate acquisition by GTE. Nivens earned her Master’s Degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and holds her Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Executive Vice President & CTO
Dr. Haralambos Marmanis is CCC’s Executive Vice President & CTO, where he is responsible for driving the product and technology vision as well as the implementation of all software systems at CCC. Dr. Marmanis has over 30 years of experience in computing and leading software teams. Before CCC, he was the CTO at Emptoris (IBM), a leader in supply and contract management software solutions. He is a pioneer in the adoption of machine learning techniques in enterprise software. Dr. Marmanis is the author of the book “Algorithms of the Intelligent Web,” which introduced machine learning to a wide audience of practitioners working on everyday software applications. He is also an expert in supply management, co-author of the first book on Spend Analysis, and author of several publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, conferences, and technical periodicals. Marmanis holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, and an MSc from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was the recipient of the Sigma-Xi innovation award and an NSF graduate fellow at Brown.
Vice President & Managing Director
Emily Sheahan is CCC’s Vice President and Managing Director leading the Information and Content Solutions division. She is responsible for the revenue and profitability of new and existing solutions in the market. Sheahan has been with CCC since 2011 where she has managed several departments, including Global Alliances, Marketing, and Education, as well as Strategic Initiatives such as M&A. Sheahan joined CCC from HCPro where she was Group Publisher driving strategy, research, development, production, and profitability of products and services in several healthcare and regulation markets. Previously, she was with NBC News-KULR as Capital Bureau Chief. Sheahan earned her Master’s Degree from Emerson College and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College.
Vice President & Managing Director
Lauren Tulloch is Vice President & Managing Director at CCC. In that role, she is responsible for the Corporate Business Unit which includes copyright licenses, the RightFind product suite, and managed knowledge services. Prior, Tulloch held several product management leadership roles in the organization. Before joining CCC, she served as a group publisher at a healthcare education & training company. Tulloch began her career as a newspaper reporter and editor. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Boston University.
Vice President, Sales
Donna Pouliot is CCC’s Vice President, Sales, responsible for existing and emerging businesses. She joined CCC in 2014 with its acquisition of Infotrieve, where she was Vice President of Sales. Pouliot brings 20 years of experience in solution sales, assessing sales performance, creating and implementing sales strategies, nurturing customer relationships, and expanding market penetration. Previously, she served in leadership roles at AMS Services, Inc. a software division of CAN Surety, and Swingtide, an IT Consulting Services company.
Vice President, Client Engagement & Business Development
Kim Zwollo is VP, Client Engagement & Business Development, responsible for building and driving the overall growth of CCC’s business around the world. Before joining CCC, he worked for Springer SBM, now Springer-Nature, in various international roles. Most recently, Zwollo was Executive Vice President Sales for the EMEA region. He has also served in diverse sales and management roles for other media companies including Elsevier Science. Zwollo holds a Master’s degree in Medical Biology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
Executive Director, International Relations
Michael Healy is the Executive Director, Rightsholder and International Relations, at CCC. Before joining CCC, he was Executive Director of The Book Rights Registry, and previously Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group. Healy has worked in the publishing and information industry for more than 35 years and has spent most of that time in senior editorial, sales, and distribution roles. He has been closely involved in the development of standards for the international publishing industry and is especially associated with standards for metadata, product information, and persistent identifiers. Healy has led many international standards groups, was Chairman of the International ISBN Agency, a Director of the International DOI Foundation, and led the international ISO committee that developed ISBN-13. He is currently Chairman of the Board of The International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) and a board member of EDITEUR, the international publishing standards body.
Managing Director, Business Development and Government Relations
Roy Kaufman is Managing Director of both Business Development and Government Relations for CCC. Prior to CCC, Kaufman served as Legal Director, John Wiley and Sons, Inc. He is a member of, among other things, the Bar of the State of New York, the Author’s Guild, and the editorial board of UKSG Insights. Kaufman also advises the US Government on international trade matters through membership in International Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) 13 – Intellectual Property and the Library of Congress’s Copyright Public Modernization Committee. He serves on the Executive Committee of the of the United States Intellectual Property Alliance (USIPA) Board. He was the founding corporate Secretary of CrossRef, and formerly chaired its legal working group. He is a Chef in the Scholarly Kitchen and has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of copyright, licensing, open access, artificial intelligence, metadata, text/data mining, new media, artists’ rights, and art law. Kaufman is Editor-in-Chief of Art Law Handbook: From Antiquities to the Internet and author of two books on publishing contract law. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and Columbia Law School.
Vice President, Enterprise Operations
Gretchen Gasser-Ellis is CCC’s Vice President of Enterprise Operations. In this role, she focuses on business process transformation and scaling operations across the enterprise. Gasser-Ellis also manages the Platform Operations and Research and Analytics departments, along with the Program Management Office. She has been at CCC for more than 20 years and has held several roles including Vice President and Managing Director, Publisher Solutions, Senior Vice President Product and Operations, Vice President of Operations, Chief Information Officer, and Director of RightsLink. Before CCC, Gasser-Ellis worked in IT consulting at Waterfield Consulting Group and in project management roles at Camp, Dresser and McKee and DuPont. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Boston University.
Vice President, Marketing
Ian Palmer is Vice President, Marketing, responsible for leading the global marketing communications team and raising market visibility for CCC information solutions related to copyright, voluntary collective licensing, data quality, data analytics, FAIR data implementations, and artificial intelligence. Before joining CCC, he worked in various marketing and sales management capacities for PubHive, DeepDyve, QxMD Software, Reprints Desk / Research Solutions, Safari Books Online, Infotrieve, Medscape, and Singular Publishing Group. Palmer earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Washington.
